Dental Care

Stansbury Animal Hospital has a strong commitment to improving the oral health of your pet. Oral disease can affect your pet's health in many ways. Tartar and gingivitis can lead to periodontal disease and tooth loss. In addition to this being a painful process, bacteria in the mouth can spread to other organs such as the heart and kidneys.

It's a fact that almost 85% of dogs and cats over the age of 3 have gingivitis and
tartar issues that require professional dental care. That's why Stansbury Animal Hospital provides a complete oral and dental evaluation as part of each pet's routine wellness examination. We also discuss oral health and home care recommendations during each visit, beginning when your pet is a puppy or kitten, and continuing through all phases of life. For our furry friends who will not allow home care to be performed, professional cleanings become an even more important part of their health maintenance.

General anesthesia is required to thoroughly clean and evaluated the teeth in dogs and cats. While many of our pets will cooperate for daily brushing, a complete oral cleaning and evaluation involves scaling above and below the gum line, probing the periodontal pocket depth, assessing mobility, polishing the teeth, and performing an antibacterial mouth rinse.

Our dental services include:

    • Dental cleaning
    • Teeth polishing

Dental Cleanings

If our veterinarians recommend dental cleanings or dental evaluations based on your pet's dental grade, you can rest assured that we use only the safest available anesthetics and that we monitor your pet's vital signs throughout the procedure. Stansbury Animal Hospital also uses pre-, intra-, and post-operative pain management to keep your pet comfortable before, during, and after all dental procedures.
